Counting down to Run Melbourne

I thought I’d give you a further update on my latest fundraising efforts and training regime for the Run Melbourne coming up in July.

The Melbourne weather has really turned this week. Yesterday I went out for a run at 7am and it was a very Melbourne three degrees. For the first time this year, I had to wear long pants, long sleeves and a beanie to boot. It was still a little dark too, so not as much fun as you would expect. Here is a happy (or not so happy) snap just before the run.

To date, I have raised just over $5,200 and again I have to thank everyone for the amazing support.

At the time of writing this blog, it’s only 52 days until run day. The day of the event is getting near and I’m very aware that I have to make it happen and get over the line. My training is going well so I am getting excited and looking forward to the big day.

I am also excited to support the Children’s Medical Research Institute (Jeans for Genes), and I have to say that they are also very grateful for the support.

While I am running in three degree mornings, and let me say it takes about 5km’s just to warm up, I think about the end goal of achieving 21.1 km’s for charity. When the run gets hard, I think about the cause and keep pushing on.

I thought I would share with you some of the objectives that CMRI have planned to accomplish in the next 20 years. Your donation will directly contribute to making these goals possible:

• Develop epilepsy treatments that will help children (and adults) around the world

• Develop new treatments for kidney disease and diabetes

• Gene therapy cures for rare genetic diseases in children

• New treatments for infectious diseases

• Find new and better treatments for every type of cancer

I would love it if you could get behind me and make a donation. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Thank you also to everyone who has supported me so far. It means a lot to me.
