I’ve had some great progress in both my fundraising efforts and training for the Run Melbourne in July.
While the Melbourne weather has turned over the past few days, my training must continue. Rain, hail or shine I need to keep working to be run ready and to make sure I don’t let anyone down. I have gained so much support from so many fantastic people.
So far, I have raised just over $5,000 and I have to say I am blown away by the support everyone has shown. Thank you all for your generosity, it means a lot to me. I am also in close contact with the fantastic people at the Children’s Medical Research Institute (Jeans for Genes). They are also very grateful for all the support.
While I am running in the rain, and six degree mornings, I remind myself that it’s all going to be worth the effort to get to the 21.1 km’s for charity.
Here’s a picture after my recent 14km training run. It rained all the way and I was soaked from head to toe, but in my mind it’s worth it to help the guys at CMRI.
I thought I would share with you some of the objectives that CMRI hope to accomplish in the next 20 years. Your donation will directly contribute to making these goals possible:
• Develop epilepsy treatments that will help children (and adults) around the world
• Develop new treatments for kidney disease and diabetes
• Gene therapy cures for rare genetic diseases in children
• New treatments for infectious diseases
• Find new and better treatments for every type of cancer
Roger Reddel, Director of CMRI, recently said that they want to discover things that they don’t even know exist yet and that it’s these discoveries that will completely transform children’s health. You can’t help but want to get behind this organisation and support their efforts.
Please take a minute to watch this short video from Children’s Medical Research Institute (Jeans for Genes) to see what they are about and why we at EBS have chosen to support them.
Please also check out my fundraising page, I would love it if you could get behind me and make a donation. https://runmelbourne2016.everydayhero.com/au/ebs
